My view on dirty bulking!
Am I against it? No.
Have I done it? Yes.
Is it optimal? No.
Would I recommend it knowing what I know now? No!
A few years back I would go into a bulk with the thoughts of just getting enough food into my body to support muscle growth, not counting my calories or macros. I was building muscle but also storing a lot more fat than I needed to be. Over time I learned that this is not optimal! It can lead to digestion issues ,excess fat gain, inflammation, brain fog and a host of other underlying health issues!
It’s great that all those extra calories can be used as fuel during your training session and you will get stronger, but a lot of these calories are not being used up and are going straight into your fat stores, which in turn gives you more work to do when the time comes to get shredded!
A slight calories surplus and the correct macros is all that is needed to support muscle growth & repair!
